Viktar Krutsko, the chairman of the Evangelical Baptist Churches Union, expressed an opinion that the post of Plenipotentiary for religious affairs proved itself worthy.

“From the point of view of the law all confessions are equal in our country, but from an ideological point of view they are not. Without the committee the representative of of certain confessions and powerful people upbrought by them would be able to opress us. With such an institution we are equal. Even at the meetings held by the committee. of course, only the Orthodox deputee sits in the presidium… but it does not make any difference where to sit”, – he mentioned.

“In the period form 1995 till 2005 there was a lot of defamation targeted at Baptists, Pentecostals and other Evangelist confessions. TV shows made by journalist Azaranka had been aired, telling that Baptists and Pentecostals are suspected of human sacrifices. Our task was to oppose such propaganda. At the committee meeting we managed to get such features off air. Couple of years ago we invited an expert from the Ministry of education and show him school textbooks where Baptists were mentioned in the “Sects” chapter with Satanists. Wew had been promised that this will be corrected as well. The Pleniptentiary on the religious affairs acted very wise. So the dialog with authorities exists what will come next – time will tell. If some “pro-” politician will come to power, the trend can change… The authorities are alerted… Terrorism, wars, conflicts…” – added the bishop.
