Part of Lord’ Chasuble Arrived Minsk


The ark containig a part of Lord’s chasuble, an exact copy of miracle-working icon of Mother of God of Tolg and the icon of Enlightener Ignaty (Bryanchanovich) and a part of his relics have been delivered to Orthodox church of Aleksandr Nevsky in Minsk on the 19 July and were welcomed by bishop of Slutsk and Salihorsk Antoni accompanied by Minsk clergy and layity, reports

The relics were brought from Vvedensky nunnery in Yaroslavl, Russia, accompanied  by prioress Varvara (Tretyak) and sisters and prioress of Hrodna nunnery of Nativity of Mother of God Gavriila (Glukhova).

Bishop Antoni brought the ark into the church with bells ringing, blessed the believers and prayed before the relics. Then he gave a welcome speech while stressing that the chasuble the part of which had been brought to Minsk was worn by Lord Himself.

Bishop Antoni also told about the Tolg icon that revealed itself in the 15th century and reminded about the significance of Enlightener Ignaty’s ascetic life and his theological works.

At the end of the service Metropolitan Filaret, the honorable Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus greeted the believers.

The relics will be available for worship at Aleksandr Nevsky church on 20-21 July from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m. On 25 July they will be displayed at Nativity of Mother of God nunnery and on 26-27 July at Zhyrovichy monastery.
