An Orthodox priest, a doctor of theology, a lecturer of Minsk Seminary and Minsk Academy of Theology, an author of numerous articles on Belarusian ecclesiastic history protopriest Vitał Antonik denounces the statement of historian Siarhiej Tarasau that the St. Euphrosyne’s cross, that had been lost in 1941, is being kept in the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergy.

“I am Belarusian, a native of Slonim district and I am not indifferent to the fate of the St. Euphrosyne’s cross”, – the priest explains his interest in the fate of the lost relic and reminds that he had lived in Zagorsk (an old name of current Sergiev Posad near Moscow) for 28 years, taught at Zagorsk seminary, told about common ecclesiastic history, Christianity and literature, Bible history, Radio Racyja reports.

“In my lectures I reminded about our St. Euphrosyne’s cross. i participated in many science conferences, meetings, excursions, in public and private debates, but I never heard from anybody and never saw that the St. Euphrosyne’s cross is being kept at the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergy, – f. Antonik says. – it isn’t there. And it never was. And if it were, Communists officials would deal with it quickly. It is more possible that the St. Euphrosyne’s cross is stored in some private collection in the West”.
